"Kung Fu Panda" Leads ANNIE Noms

Via In Contention:

Best Animated Feature
“Bolt” (Walt Disney Animation Studios)
“Kung Fu Panda” (DreamWorks Animation)
“$9.99″ (Sherman Pictures/Lama Films)
“WALL-E” (Pixar Animation Studios)
“Waltz With Bashir” (Sony Pictures Classics/Bridgit Folman, Les Films D’ici, Razor Films)

Kung Fu Panda led the way with 17 nominations, while WALL-E only managed 8, all but assuring Panda's Oscar nomination. Although I think WALL-E is still a lock for the win. Panda was helped by a large voice cast (it managed three nominations in that category alone), something WALL-E didn't have. Ditto the screenplay, WALL-E is a purely visual work and was never really destined to succeed there.

The real surprise was that Thomas Newman's score wasn't nominated. Now that is a shame.

I DON'T GET THE LOVE FOR KUNG FU PANDA. There, I said it! Sure, compared to a LOT of DreamWork's recent films it shines, but, like, it sort of doesn't? If anything, this just makes me love Flushed Away (which should've gotten this kind of acclaim) more.

WALL-E is far better, but I still rather like KFP.
