On "The Last Stand"
From The Dispatch:
Owens represents a classic western archetype of the lone lawman standing up against a band of outlaws, a more modern equivalent of John Wayne in "Rio Bravo" or Gary Cooper in "High Noon." It is this archetypal symbolism that Kim subverts so slyly, playing with our expectations and delivering a surprisingly brilliant action film that is something far better, and far deeper, than anyone could have anticipated. On the surface, "The Last Stand" looks like just another Schwarzenegger shoot 'em up, but it is so much more than that.Click here to read my full review.
