On "Taken"

Better late than never.

From The Dispatch:
Most people who have ever seen a movie could probably lay out how the film will go and how it will end just from the briefest of plot descriptions. Being an early year release one doesn't go in expecting much (although there are quite a few fine 2009 films playing in limited release, like Barry Jenkins' endearing modern romance, "Medicine for Melancholy"), and while "Taken" is admittedly better that most of the trash released around this time, it still has a banally predictable, paint-by-numbers plot that any below-average screenwriter could have written in their sleep.
